And a good table cleaning.

Also, and some new drawings. I wasn’t going to scan them for you, rehabilitation just give you photos from the camera, sick but I just couldn’t do it. Even though I have to carry my computer to a WHOLE OTHER ROOM to scan things. Just so you know what I go through for you. Unfortunately for you, I didn’t scan my steampunk gorilla picture and I’m not walking all the way back across the house to do it now so you’re just going to have to make do with regular gorillas. Okay, monkeys. Whatevs.

I just discovered yesterday that I am the proud owner of a brush pen! How exciting! I wonder when I got it… probably when I had a job and could just go around buying random art supplies I wouldn’t use for a year…

By the way, this is a tardigrade and tardigrades are awesome. They can survive in space, just like Superman! The photo I was working from was black and white, but I strongly suspect this guy is red and blue. Maybe you’ll like him better if I call him a water bear.

And now for something completely different! I started doing some sketches for a steampunk fabric contest at Spoonflower*, malady and what could be more steampunk than elephants? Right?

* which goal I kind of set aside because my drawing wasn’t up to par yet, there which is too bad because while I don’t think I would have won, but I would have smoked most of the entries

Okay, vitamin some things that have happened lately!

far_rachel1) Popped into Susan Mikula‘s opening in SF and finally saw my former housemate Rachel, urologist or as she dubbed herself “Far Rachel” (referring to how the Taliban calls Saudi Arabia the near enemy and the US the far enemy). Then she set me up for an onion joke (like an onion, check I also make people cry) and we got our pictures taken. (Like the Orville Reddenbacher hair?) Then there were a million people there and it was overwhelming and I had to leave. Which was too bad because I was having a nice geeky art conversation with Susan about her art. Hey Susan! I liked your art and would have asked you more about your printer if we hadn’t been interrupted!

Then The Knitter and I went out for drinks and she had a Scotch, which as we all know tastes like old bandaids, only I tasted this one and it tasted good. Everyone knows Scotch tastes terrible. I mean, I just said that, right? But apparently it also tastes smoky and delicious like Tim’s Cascade Style Alder Smoked Potato Chips. Who knew?

2) Went to Disneyland for the first time since I was eight. Space Mountain was brand new! It was awesome! It’s still awesome! Not only had I not been to Disneyland in at least 20 years, I hadn’t been on a rollercoaster in at least 12, and I wasn’t sure I would like it. I shouldn’t have worried – rollercoasters are awesomesauce. You know what’s not awesomesauce? Drop rides. We went on the Tower of Terror and boy did I hate that. It didn’t make me motion sick or anything (which Star Tours did – I have a sensitive inner ear), it just caused my body to freak out. You know how time dilates when there’s a crisis, like you’re in a car accident or something? It was like that. I did not enjoy it. The Knitter had to go on the Submarine ride to make it up to me. It’s Finding Nemo-themed, and I freaking love Finding Nemo, so I enjoyed it while The Knitter thought about all the germy children. My way is more fun.
See, when we got there The Knitter was a little balky about the rides I wanted to go on, which I finally figured out was because I wanted to go on the ones I’d been on the last time I was there. WHEN I WAS EIGHT. And I was a really small kid, too, so I was pretty limited in rides I could go on. Yes, we went on Mr Toad’s Wild Ride, but we skipped the Dumbo ride.

3) My band has a new website! Check it out – ForFearTheHeartsOF, for all your For Fear The Hearts Of Men Are Failing needs! It’s not entirely done yet – I haven’t set it up for mp3′s etc, for example, and since this weekend is the biggest yarn expo in California and the Knitter is promoting her book, I don’t know that I’ll have time to do that this weekend. But soon, my pets. Soon. Oh, and if you’re in the Bay Area, you should come see us at our cd release party next Wednesday March 3 at El Rio in SF! I hope to see you there! (Oh, and if you want to hear us, you should check out our myspace page!)
After a hiatus of, medical
oh, viagra
ten years or so, I decided to start drawing again.
